About Us

At Clayton’s Little Steps Foundation, our journey began with a personal story—one filled with uncertainty, determination, and hope.

When our son Clayton was diagnosed with autism just before his second birthday, our family was faced with a whirlwind of emotions. It was frightening to step into the unknown, unsure of what the future would hold or where to turn for guidance. Shortly after his diagnosis, genetic testing revealed a significant deletion in his 6th chromosome—an anomaly so rare that there were no recorded cases like his. Doctors had no answers, no roadmap, and no way to predict what this meant for Clayton’s future. While he remained a joyful and generally healthy child, we were overwhelmed by the uncertainty and the lack of information available to support families like ours.

Out of this experience, Clayton’s Little Steps Foundation was born. We understand firsthand how isolating and challenging it can be to receive a diagnosis without clear next steps. That’s why our mission is to guide, advocate, and empower families facing similar challenges. We are committed to being a source of support for those navigating autism, chromosomal abnormalities, and other special needs diagnoses.

Our website serves as a hub for families, caregivers, and supporters looking for guidance, resources, and ways to get involved. Whether you're seeking information, looking for a community, or hoping to contribute, we invite you to take part in our mission.

Together, we can take small steps toward a brighter future—one child, one family, and one breakthrough at a time.

Clayton was born on May 11, 2020, in California, bringing immense joy to his parents, Kyle and Alexa, and his loving big sister, Charlotte. From the very beginning, he was adored beyond measure. In February 2021, his family relocated to Georgia, where he continued to spread happiness through his infectious laughter and boundless energy.

Clayton had a deep love for music, jumping, squealing, and splashing in water—simple joys that brought him endless delight. Though non-verbal, he was learning to communicate using an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. Among his favorite requests were candy and YouTube, two things that always made him smile. Clayton’s presence was pure joy, and his warmth and spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

On December 20, 2024, Clayton tragically passed away in his sleep. His loss left an indescribable void, but his family was determined that his legacy would not fade. Clayton’s Little Steps Foundation was created to ensure that the love, resilience, and impact Clayton brought to the world continues to inspire and support families facing similar journeys.

Clayton’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, laughter, and meaning. His story lives on through this foundation—helping others navigate the unknown, advocating for families, and celebrating the beauty in every child’s unique journey.

Clayton’s impact will never be forgotten. His legacy is a beacon of hope for families everywhere.
